OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS, PERFORMERS, CURATORS AND COLLECTIVES

RUNG ISSUE 02

publication/print opportunity with digital gallery space

deadline 1 December 2018

We are rung and we are looking for artists, curators and collectives to contribute to issue 02 of our publication and website, formerly lockjaws* started by ebc and taken over by us, rung.

rung is a grassroots project which aims to support emerging artists in print and online using these platforms to give artists an alternative ‘gallery’ space. rung issue 01 was a tabloid style newsprint publication with an accompanying website, both of which launched on the 1st June 2018. This was followed by an exhibition featuring several rung artists at Test Space, Spike Island, October 2018.

Communication will be key between all those involved, we are striving to create a community and network within rung.

We welcome applications from anyone who was previously applied for rung issue 01

OPEN CALL CRITERIA

ARTISTS

We are looking for artists whose work can be adapted to both digital and print platforms. You will be asked to produce two pieces, one for the magazine which will come in a double page, newsprint format. This will be a collaboration led by a curator with other artists. You will also produce a second piece which will be for the website. They can be similar style/concept however the piece for the website must have digital elements, moving, sound, GIF, text etc. It cannot be the same static image as the magazine.

CURATORS

You will be assigned a super team of artists which you will lead in the creation of the double page spread and a section of the website. This can be lead by a concept, a medium or just an idea, which we encourage you to include in your proposal. We are open to ideas in development but need people who are willing to grab this by the horns. This is an important role and we are looking for people willing to dedicate time and effort. Don't take this lightly, it needs organisation and communication.

COLLECTIVES

If you want to apply as a group we are really happy with this. This can work however you work, just send us your ideas and refer to artists/curators section for guidance.
