Vanessa Von Heydebreck

Often switching between the two & three dimensional, I focus on the space that lies between the two: the negative spaces, the creases, and the folds. I use the body my tool to explore this because it is a vessel of communication: my motivation is to explore oneʼs inner most feelings, the body that contains them, and how they engage with their surroundings.

I test these boundaries while manipulating these bodies playfully, by cutting or bending photographic imagery into three-dimensional collages with the help of found objects, by printing photographic patterns on textiles that are then worn & photographed again; or by animating these in a video and adding a musical composition or printing them on tea towels for them to be objectified in an unconventional way.
